October is European Cyber Security Month (ECSM)!
ENISA, its partners and the European Commission are currently busy preparing this year’s ECSM. The Month will run for the entire duration of October and its events run right across the EU. Each week of October will focus on a different topic relating to cybersecurity.
The ECSM kick-off event – a collaboration between ENISA, Europol and the European Banking Federation (EBF) – will take on 30 September on the premises of the EBF in Brussels.
Week 1 (3-7 October) will focus on Security in Banking. The week will seek to capture the most important challenges for the banking sector, for instance, protecting customer online accounts or financial institutions which are targeted because of the critical role they play in a functioning economy.
Week 2 (10-14 October) will focus on Cyber Safety. Guidelines will be presented for staying safe on the internet. The guidelines will focus on vulnerable groups such as students and children.
Week 3 (17-21 October) will focus on Cyber Security Training. Training will be given to all citizens, from internet users to IT professionals and security experts, on basic IT security skills to computer forensics, via webinars or in the classroom.
Week 4 (24-28 October) will focus on Mobile Malware. End users will be informed on how to protect their mobile devices from malware.
